Carpet Stain Removal - Coffee

By James C

If you have ever spilt coffee on your carpet you know how difficult it can be to remove. It is definitely one of the toughest stains to take care of. Read this article and get some tips on removing coffee stains.

The first thing that you need to do is don't panic. It will be okay. Get some dye free paper towels and place them on the spot. Blot up as much as possible. Now take a stack of paper towels and place them over the stain. Put a weight on top of the towels and let the rest of the coffee wick up into the towels. Replace the towels when they become soaked. Once you have removed as much of the coffee as possible you are ready for step two. Using your favorite carpet spot remover spray the spot and blot up any remaining coffee. Repeat until no more coffee transfers to your towel. Now it is time for step three. In a spray bottle mix up a solution of 1/3 vinegar to 2/3 water. Spray the spot, let the solution dwell for a minute and blot up. The vinegar solution will neutralize the spotter and help reverse any browning caused by the coffee. When you are finished place another stack of paper towels on the spot and place a weight on top of them. This will absorb any remaining liquid.

That's all there is to it. If you find that the stain is still present you might want to contact a local carpet cleaner. They will have the tools and experience to deal with stubborn stains. Best of luck.
